What you need to obtain a work visa to France
To apply for a work visa, the French employer must first apply to the Immigration and Integration Division (OFII) or the Directorate-General for Entrepreneurship, Competition, Consumption, Work and Employment (DIRECCTE) and obtain permission to employ a foreigner. A French employer needs to declare a vacancy in the French employment service, and only when a worker from French or EU citizens who meets all the above requirements cannot be found for the specified position (qualifications), the employer can apply for a work permit for the foreign worker.
Only after obtaining such permission, you can apply for a visa at the Embassy / Visa Application Center of France. Before registering with the Embassy, you must make sure that the Visa Section has received the official CERFA application form.
Documents required for obtaining a work visa to France:
- A completed application for a long-term visa;
- Two photos;
- Work permit OFII or DIRECCTE;
- CV, Ukrainian labor book, copy of the last labor contract or certificate of employment;
- Foreign passport and copies of all pages (except for blank ones). Persons with multiple passports must submit them all at the time of applying for a visa;
- National passport with copies of all pages except blank;
- Agreement for the processing of personal data.
Work Visa – EU Blue Card
Another possibility is to receive the so-called EU Blue Card (Carte Bleue Européenne). It is intended for highly skilled workers.
An EU Blue Card may be issued to foreign nationals from countries outside the European Union if:
- they received higher education, lasting at least three years at a university recognized by the state in which it is located. As an alternative proof of qualification, at least five years of relevant work experience may be considered;
- have a work contract with a French employer with an annual salary of at least one and a half times the average (53.331 Euros). Such a contract must also be concluded for at least 12 months.
Employment visa in France and family members
An applicant applying for a long-term visa for employment purposes may be accompanied by his family members. They need to submit the same package of documents, as well as confirmation of family ties with the employee (marriage certificate, birth certificate with apostille and translation).
